The Reality of Dreams

“Have you ever imagined standing in front of a dinosaur or walking on a different planet full of alien life?”

Probably. But is it really possible? The answer is yes and no. We certainly can’t bring back the dinosaurs. But we can make you walk on mars while still being in your hallway. How is that possible? Though Virtual Reality.

Virtual reality isn’t a new thought. As long as humans have lived they have dreamed and some have tried to make them real too. But creating a reality isn’t an easy thing. There have been other mediums through which people have portrayed their imagination. Just look at the various artists of fine arts. But nothing really equals something that can actually react to our stimuli.

The realms of possibilities:

Virtual Reality doesn’t happen just happen on a screen in front of you, but it happens all around you creating a feeling of being in an alternate reality altogether. This has quite a profound impact on anybody who witnesses it. And because of this factor, we have found some extraordinary uses for it. Let’s look at some of these:

  • vr2Training: The most revolutionary use of Virtual Reality has been in the training especially in those fields that involve high-risk operations like in the military, medical. Pilots and medical professionals like surgeons carry out some of the riskiest and dangerous operations in their field of work e.g. flying a military aircraft/ a brain surgery. In these situations, any untrained or undertrained person cannot be employed. Enter Virtual Reality, with modern day simulation systems a person can be trained for both situations without taking any risk on failure. Thereby providing these professionals the absolute necessary experience in handling the situation perfectly.

  • Mental Health: Virtual Reality has been useful in treating some mental health issues such as post-traumatic stress. By making the patient go through the similar experience again the medical professionals help them cope with the situation they fear and avoid. It has also been particularly helpful for people suffering from autisms. By using Virtual Reality, they are learning to interact in the society thereby overcoming their barriers. To them, Virtual Reality is nothing less than a blessing.

  • vr3Entertainment: Virtual Reality has been booming in the sector and it is believed that Virtual Reality will find the most useful in this sector from games to movies everything is being researched and developed to provide the most realistic experience to the viewer. 3D is now a thing of the past as the world is trying for 5D, a viewing experience where you can physically feel the experience like walking with the characters.

  • Augmented Reality: I’m sure everyone who has ever watched the Marvel’s Ironman movies must have wished to have their personal Jarvis. Well, that is what we call augmented reality. It is an effort to create a reality which is a combination of both the Virtual and Real space around you. Using Virtual Reality, we create a virtual layer over the real space and through the interaction with the virtual space we can carry out tasks. Of course, some physical work has to be done by you. We are just not there yet. Microsoft made an effort in this area with the HoloLens. And if not for anything it did work as a technology demonstrator for the future possibilities in that area.

  • Business: Business has always employed the latest technology to become more efficient in their process of conducting all activities. Virtual Reality has significant potential to reduce the human effort in conducting some operations like business travels, conducting intervr5views, giving tours, forecasts trends and meetings. Solutions like virtual conference rooms can create a significant impact on the ways of conducting business.

  • Design: Designers always need access to newer to help them better visualize their design. Just as CAD (Computer Aided Design) once revolutionized the design industry. The new Virtual Reality is the latest revolution, the best, that a designer can hope for. With the 3D rendering of their designs in a 3D space will enormously aid in the creativity and pace of design.

The unlikely pioneer- Games

When it comes to dreams and an alternate reality nothing can match the business of selling dreams and that is the gaming industry. In modern times, the best new technologies in the field of realism have come in the gaming industry and the gaming companies have gone above and beyond to create more realistic looking games. The leading gaming giants like Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are all racing each other to capture the newly created market with the potential of billions. Each of them releasing latest and better VR console as soon as possible. And a healthy competition may certainly benefit the general populace as the best and latest become available at the cheapest price.

Conclusion:

The pace at which the technology is growing nowadays. The reality of dreams, where no one must carry a cell phone.
Where everyone will have a personal virtual assistant like Jarvis from Ironman that even talks to you isn’t far away.

Virtual Reality will bring the new revolution in the technology of future. Let me be bold and say this, VR is the future. And it is here.

A mind without fear

fre2The true freedom lies when the mind is without fear. If a mind is without fear the barriers in the way won’t matter. The true inspiration of heart lies with the mind free from any compulsion. People should not get tired of working or become lazy to ignore their duties. Discipline is an essential element of freedom, without which it leads to chaos and disorders.
Our mind is a funny thing. On the one hand, it’s awesome. But on the other, it can pulverize us more quickly and ruthlessly than anything else.
Our mind is inherently scared. That’s its job, to be cautious—to keep us alive, to have us cross roads safely and not get eaten by a lion. But left unchecked, it can become paralyzed with fear and meaner than a cornered crocodile.
The mind’s tendency to want to control is so strong and so habitual that we often don’t realize when it tries to push our inner wisdom and natural sense of ease and love aside.
The bad news is there is no book or course that will change the nature of our mind. The good news is that we don’t have to change it. The problem isn’t our mind but how we use it. Your mind wants facts. It likes making calculations, running the odds.
I thought there were rules more important than the deep desire not to do something. Rules like be a good friend, be a good student, go to lots of parties. Your mind doesn’t realize that saying “no” isn’t a big deal or even a medium deal. Or that your intuition is where wisdom lies.
The need for Logical Thinking and Reasoningfre3
The reasoning is thinking enlightened by logic. It can be defined more broadly so that it becomes equivalent to problem-solving or critical thinking, but it becomes a special kind of thinking worth separate discussion only when the logical component is stressed. Thus intuitive, imaginative, and trial-and-error thinking is eliminated, no matter how excellent the outcome of such activities may be. Reasoning or logical thinking is a much-wanted quality if we are to achieve something worthwhile overcoming the narrowness of our thoughts. Superstitious beliefs and dead habits are detrimental to progress. These pull down the creativity and enthusiasm which are necessary for a breakthrough invention or discovery.
Logic is a social invention, but it too has a long history of progressive refinement and transmission from one generation to the next, along with such cultural acquisitions as language and clothing. Hence, the reasoning that occurs today can be considered an adaptive natural function operating with cultural products that have been developed to fit the minds that use them
Freedom from Bondage of Prejudice
One needs to free himself from the prejudices which are like deserts that can dry up any stream of clear thoughts. Achieving something extraordinary or unusual requires broadening the narrowness of the mind. Rational thinking should guide the thoughts, and not age-old superstitions. Old and baseless beliefs should be scrutinized with the help of logic and rational thinking. Acquiring a scientific temper helps in getting rid of many superstitious beliefs. Many of these beliefs are unscientific and these divide the humanity instead of uniting them. It takes a lot of courage and initiative to stand up against the prejudices in society and to work for the upliftment of those affected by it. Despite these odds, being free also means bringing freedom to others. There are ample examples of those, including that of Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa and India, that unless a life free from all evils exists, people cannot enjoy their freedom. To enable others to have freedom, one needs to be fearless, truthful, and broad-minded. The faith in self can help you to get rid of those thoughts. Break your barriers.
‘Embrace the struggle and let it make you stronger, it won’t last forever’

Stop Being Judgmental
An open-hearted person frees himself from the narrow confines of ascribing motives to other’s action. We ourselves are responsible for creating our own destiny. Making others responsible for our shortcomings and failures means we are still under the influence of being controlled by others. Real freedom means being able to understand that no one can put us down, and it is up to us to make the best of the situation and life. No need to judge anybody. Be curious, not judgmental. Judging someone doesn’t define who they are. It defines who you are. You can’t judge someone’s story by the chapter you walk in. Every single soul in on the planet has a story. Don’t judge before you truly know their story. The truth might surprise you. It is unethical to judge someone’s choices without understanding their reasons.
‘The strongest person is not those who show their strength in front of the world, but those who fight and win battles those others do not know anything about.’

Freedom symbolizes the ultimate in the evolution of human thought free from any oppression or duress. It is a state of mind where one is free from any pressure to speak what he believes, his thoughts. Freedom is the most enchanting feeling in the world.

Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore wrote the poem “Where the mind is without fear and the held is held high’’ in the 20th century. It’s a prayer to the almighty for granting freedom to humanity from obsession.

Embrace Optimism

opt7Optimism is a mental attitude reflecting a belief or hope that the outcome of some specific endeavor or outcomes in general, will be positive, favorable, and desirable. It is the feeling of being hopeful. A positive mind full of hope can change the course of time. All you have to do is believe in yourself.
“I am an optimist, so I believe that no matter the situation, the best is almost always yet to come.”
The best is yet to come, but only if you put in the work. Only if you stay focused and true to your calling.
Only if you can continue to smile in the midst of adversity, Only if you don’t rest on the laurels of past successes. Have faith in yourself because the best is yet to come.
Optimism is The Power of Positivity

opt2Harness the power of positive mental states. Positive vibes are like the sails of the sailboat. They propel you towards your goals. They are the fuel to your efforts. It acts the way a phoenix rise from the ashes. No matter how hard the challenge is, no matter how broken you are, no matter how bad the competition is.. Be optimistic!!.
Optimists search for the cracks in the wall of the seemingly impossible. They do not shut their eyes and hope for the best.

Self-confidence plays a crucial role. Cultivate your confidence in your capabilities. It is the way of making your mind understands that you are capable of executing the plan. Not just those others can do it, but that you personally can. How can anybody else see how great you are if you can’t see it yourself. Life is ten percent of what you experience and ninety percent of how you respond to it.

“Each time we face our fear, we gain strength, courage, and confidence in the doing” By Theodore Roosevelt.

opt3If you believe in yourself you will be unstoppable. I personally feel the best way to gain self-confidence is to do what you are afraid to do. Don’t think you are inferior. Don’t compare yourself with anyone. Everyone has their own individual qualities. There is no comparison between the sun and the moon, they both shine when it’s their time. A strong positive self-image is the best possible preparation for being successful. Be who you are. Never ever doubt your worth!!

When life puts you in difficult situations don’t say why me? Say try me!! That’s something is being optimistic. When nothing is sure everything is possible. Never underestimate your strength and never overestimate your weakness. An optimistic and a positive attitude is everything. No one can pull you down if you raise awareness to your own.
What the mind can conceive, and believe, and the heart desires, you can achieve.
Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
opt4“A tiger doesn’t lose sleep over the opinion of the sheep.” So be the tiger. Have a confidence that you can do everything on your own. Be independent!! Don’t bother what others think of you. If you believe what you are doing is right, then just keep going. Embrace yourself.
A calm mind brings inner strength and self-confidence.
Optimism is a foundation of courage. Courage is important for being optimistic. It doesn’t come from your comfort zone. Because courage doesn’t exist without fear.
The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and beautiful of all. So don’t be afraid of your weakness or problems or competition. To forge a blade it has to be put in the fire. To be strong you have to be weak. Great men are forged in fire. Trust yourself, trust your instincts, you know more than you think you do.
“Confidence is t the root of so many attractive qualities, a sense of humor, a sense of style, willingness to be who you are no matter what anyone else might think or say…’’ by Wentworth Miller

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become

opt5Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive good things will happen to you. Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try one more time. Trust me every difficulty you face is an opportunity. It just depends how you react to it. Consider how you could leverage your strengths and apply lessons from past successes and experience.
The mature person exerts a far greater sense of control and influence over his environment and is far less likely to be angry, upset, or distracted. Try to be neutral in every situation. Don’t get over excited in situations. Stay calm. The superior person has the ability to continue talking to him in a positive and optimistic way, keeping his mind calm, clear and completely under control. An optimist person is more mature and relaxed because the best is yet to come.

How to think logically?

logicl2The word logic is derived from a Greek word “Logos” meaning study reason or discourse.  Thinking logically means having justification for every possible reason for every step or decision you will make. Logical decision making is done the basis of facts with suitable reasoning rather than emotions. It is the process of making strategies with logic and executing them on the based plan. It is a process of being smart and thinking creatively. You should justify your thoughts with logic and enlighten your team. You should justify the strategies, actions, and decisions based on the facts you gather. The logic can help you to get a better understanding of any problem or situation. The logic is the science and art of correct thinking. The reasoning is thinking, speaking about something in rational and logical ways. It involves thinking and a thorough analysis of the problem. Logical thinking focuses on the improvement in the analytical skills. Analytical skill helps to do a thorough analysis of any problem or situation.

Deductive reasoning is a crucial phase of the Logical thinking process. Now the question in your mind is what is deductive reasoning? Well, the answer is pretty simple.

Deductive reasoning involves a thought process in which general principles guide individuals as they analyze specific phenomenon or take specific action. Simply it can be said that follow a rulebook for any circumstances.

One example of deductive reasoning is ‘Human Resources have identified public speaking skills as an important qualifier for a particular position. They decide to require candidates to make an oral presentation on a predetermined topic as a part of their second interview.’

Management is committed to professional development for staff members and mandates that a formal professional development plan is incorporated into all performance reviews.

Inductive reasoning is looking for a pattern or a trend and then generalizing it. When you generalize and extrapolate the information, you don’t know for sure if this trend will continue, but you assume it will. You, therefore, don’t know for sure that a conclusion based on inductive reasoning will be 100% true.

Abductive reasoning is the third form of logical reasoning and is somewhat similar to inductive reasoning. It was first introduced by the term “guessing” since conclusions are drawn here are based on probabilities. In abductive reasoning, it is presumed that the most plausible conclusion is also the correct one.

Unlike deductive and inductive reasoning, abductive reasoning is not commonly used for psychometric testing.

The logical thinking process involves taking the important ideas, facts, and conclusions involved in a problem and arranging them in a chain-like progression that takes on a meaning in and of it. To think logically is to think in steps. And justify your every step.

These points can come in handy to have a better understanding of Logical Thinking:

  • It is a branch of philosophy that concern analysis of interference and arguments.
  • It is the use and study of valid reasoning.
  • A proper reasonable way of understanding something.
  • An interference involves forming a conclusion that is based on evidence
  • An argument consists of a conclusion and its supporting evidence.

Logical thinking is a process that involves moving from one related statement or thought to another. The purpose of logic is:

  • To attain clarity in our thoughts and validity in our process of interference.
  • Distinguish between good and bad reasoning and between correct and incorrect arguments.
  • To attain truth and validity in reasoning.

“To a great mind, nothing is little” By Sherlock Holmes.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has mentioned in his book picturing the character Sherlock Holmes a flawless logical thinker.

What are the benefits of being logical?

The answer is quite useful. The following points will support my answer:

  • Supports the use of reasoning and power of the mind.
  • Helps to make them more dependable
  • We learn how to defend judgments with proper justification.
  • Using logic we bring our intellectual capacities to maturity and fruitfulness
  • And we learn to distinguish between good and bad arguments.

log3You must never lose touch with your inner stillness. To be sound and logical Eckhart Tolle said “When you lose touch with your inner stillness, you lose touch within yourself you lose in the world. Your innermost sense of self, of who you are is inseparable from stillness. I am that is deeper than your name and form.”

Training in logical thinking encourages learners to think for themselves, to question hypotheses, to develop alternative hypotheses, and to test those hypotheses against known facts. That is how you decide what logically right solution is. You should consider all the aspects before you execute your plan. Comparing hypotheses or assumptions with the actual fact needs logical understanding.

It has been proven that specific training in logical thinking processes can make people “smarter.” Logical thinking allows a child to reject quick answers, such as “I don’t know,” or “this is too difficult,” by empowering them to involve deeper into their thinking processes and understand better the methods used to arrive at a solution and even the solution itself.
